Port Kembla Festival, City Skate and After Dark events as well as Steve Bourke, The Melodrones, Fragile Animals and more live in Wollongong this week

Jeb Taylor

This Saturday April 20th is obviously Record Store Day and while we have no live music this year, there are plenty of other options to check out once you've done your record shopping!

This weekend Wollongong City Gallery are hosting After Dark events on Friday and Saturday night. Friday sees Russell W, Godriguez, Lux Trevis and more take to the stage for a free show, while on Saturday Deez Gaze host an event featuring The Sweaty Bettys, Second Idol, Princess Unit and more.

Saturday is also Port Kembla Festival, it takes place across numerous venues in Port Kembla including Yakka, The Servo, Iron Yampi and more. There is a huge line up of artists that includes Adi Toohey, Sampology, Angelo The Poet and so much more, visit portkemblafestival.com to get all the venue and artist details.

Happening all weekend across the road from us in Wollongong Mall, are hosting City Skate with skateboarding and live music. The live music includes Brendan Neville (Dribs), Josh Fogarty (OK Hotel), Heather Duncan (Sesame Girl)Lemonise and plenty more. Best of all it is happening for free. It kicks off at 6pm on Friday night and the 10am on both Saturday and Sunday.

You may know him from his band Step-Panther, or as the live bass player with Hockey Dad, but Steve Bourke is close to unleashing an incredible solo album and you can get a taste of it for free this Friday night at at Towradgi Beach Hotel.

There is a great free show happening on Saturday night as well with The Melodrones & Fragile Animals taking to the stage at Dicey Rileys, bot bands are highly recommended. Another highly recommended band are Organs and they play a free show on Sunday at the North Gong Hotel.

Thursday April 25th is a holiday and local ska/punk band The Skarntz are using it to take to the stage of La La La's for a show, supports are from Operation Ibis and Mac Tango.
